The Donn is one of two Grade 1 races on the card drawn Wednesday, the other being the $300,000 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap.
Other contenders racing in the Donn will be the undefeated Trickmeister, last fall's Breeders' Cup Classic favorite Flat Out, Grade 3 winner Redeemed, Soaring Empire, Mission Impazible, Al Khali, Where's Sterling, Hymn Book, and Sangaree.
Shackleford will have a disadvantage drawing what was arguably the worst post position, number 9.
"I'm not too concerned about the post," trainer Dale Romans said minutes after the draw. "He's got speed and I like the fact he can sit outside and kind of track the other speed horses in the field."
Jockey Rosie Napravnik, who became just the sixth female to ride in the Kentucky Derby (G1) last May, will be riding Ruler On Ice Saturday.
“When I heard (ttrainer) Kelly Breen and the Halls were reaching out to me to ride a horse of this caliber, who has accomplished so much, I felt extremely lucky,” Napravnik said. “The Halls are great people and we’ve developed quite a rapport. They’re not afraid to give someone a chance, and they had great confidence in me going into the Derby last year.”
