Analysts at BetUS.com have come up with a few top picks for the Kentucky Derby 2010, which includes the two favorites Lookin' At Lucky (+375 odds) and Sidney's Candy (+400).  But today's forecasted heavy rain has put a damper on the big Derby race so we at Gambling911.co have had to dig a bit deeper and consider picks from BetUS.com that run best in mud.

Their third pick really stands out.  That would be Mission Impazible at a whopping +2000 odds (paying $200 for every $10 bet).  He is considered among the top contenders in the slop.

"I'm beginning to favor Pletcher's second best Derby horse ahead of his first," says BetUS.com analyst D.S. Williamson.  "Impazible hasn't hit his peak yet and that victory in the Louisiana Derby was ultra-professional. He could be a very nice long shot play come Derby Day."

Mission Impazible finishing among the top 3 horses pays out $40 for every $10 bet.

Winning the Louisiana Derby, trainer Todd Pletcher believes his horse is improving and ready to race in the Kentucky Derby 2010.

"He continues to be moving forward," Pletcher told The Times Picayune on Nola.com recently. "His breezes since the Louisiana Derby are the best he's had this year."

One of Mission Impazible's co-owners agrees. Kim Gullatt told Nola.com: "Going into this race (the Derby), after he won the Louisiana Derby, just to set foot on the track on Derby Day was (going) to be enough for me. "I felt that way at that point. Now I think the horse has a shot. He's improved right before our eyes. He's peaking at the right time. It's been fun to watch."

Everyone involved with Mission Impazible feels comfortable with the number 14 starting position as well, although that number has only yielded two winners in the entire history of the Kentucky Derby.

Mike Welsch of the Daily Racing Form says of Mission Impazible: "Another of the Pletchers who has trained extremely well over the last couple of weeks both here and in south Florida. Made short work of former Derby contender and stablemate Rule during the latter stages of each of his last two breezes, and his energy level has continued to be high all week. Gives the notion he's sitting on his best yet."

The focus on today's race will be the mud.  Gambling911.com has been closely monitoring the weather situation up in Louisville and as of 9 am EST, there was light rain occurring with heavier amounts expected over the next few hours.  Much of the rain will fall later today and tonight.  Over an inch of rain had already fallen.  There could be a break in the afternoon, which means the potential for severe thunderstorms come Derby time. Hundreds of people were without power in Louisville because of storms that hit around 5:30 A.M. Derby morning.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
