The Lexington Stakes is considered the final prep of the Kentucky Derby. The race is run on 1¹/16 miles (8.5 furlongs) of polytrack for three-year-olds with a $200,000 purse.

17 Horses Perish in Fire at Saratoga Casino Hotel Harness Track in Saratoga Springs, New York

The fire reportedly started in the backstretch area of the harness racetrack where some 350 horses are typically kept. Of the 17 horses that were killed, 11 belonged to trainer Robyn Mongiardo and six belonged to trainer Timothy Benson.
