Despite there not being a clear cut favorite to win this year’s Kentucky Derby, nearly 90 percent of those betting the Triple Crown 2013 prop believe there will be one.  The odds, according to Dave Mason of BetOnline, were +650 for a potential payout of $650 on a $100 bet.

Both Orb and Verrazano were the co-favorites to win this year’s Derby with the next shortest odds at 8/1 for both Revolutionary and Goldencents.

The odds of a triple crown are not particularly good as the last occurrence took place way back in 1978 with Affirmed.

That said, Affirmed was one of three horses to win that decade.
