Paddy O'Prado has gone from a huge Kentucky Derby long shot near 20/1 odds to a horse that was closing in on the favorite.  Sportsbook.com at 3 pm EST had slashed Paddy O'Prado's odds to +800 for a payout potential of $80 on every $10 bet.  (note:  last minute odds had this one paying $110 for every $10 bet but you must get your wager in now via Visa or Mastercard)

"As weather conditions at Churchill Downs deteriorate, more and more action is coming in on Paddy O'Prado, who has already demonstrated he can run in mud," observes Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.

Paddy O'Prado turned in one of the fastest pre-Derby workouts when he sped 5 furlongs in 58.4 seconds on a muddy track on April 23.

"He worked really well in the slop," trainer Dale Romans said. "I don't think it's going to back him up at all. There's a good chance it's going to move him up."

Trainer Todd Pletcher feels confident that any of his four starters can run well on a muddy track.

"All of our horses handled a wet track in their breezes (last) Saturday," said Pletcher, who will send Devil May Care, Discreetly Mine, Mission Impazible and Super Saver postward in the 136th Kentucky Derby.

"If there's a likelihood of slop or something similar, it may be an advantage for us. We know we can get over it and I'm not sure others can say that.

"For instance, you've got the California horses (racing on synthetic surfaces) that don't see wet tracks. It's hard to know how they might react to such a situation."

All 2010 Kentucky Derby odds appear below as of 3 pm EST Saturday.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
