Smooth Roller comes into this race with limited experience. One of those races featured a victory at the Grade One Awesome Again Stakes in Santa Anita.
“I expected him to run big,” said trainer Victor Garcia following that win. “He had a lot of trouble in his last race. He was washed out, stumbled from the gate, was four or five wide both turns and only got beat a length and one-quarter.”
But can he take on the likes of American Pharoah? This remains to be seen.
