The NFL has softened its position on marijuana recently, essentially to a non-existent state, but just a handful of years ago it was an entirely different story.

Players who tested positive for THC faced short or season-long suspensions. Now, they're put into an "Intervention Program" if they test above a certain THC threshold.

Adam "Pacman" Jones, a "bad boy" in the league during his 13-year tenure (2005-2018), said this week that he smoked weed before every game.

"I had to smoke before the games. The one year that I was in the program I really didn't play that good. The medicinal value of marijuana is undisputed, and most believe it’s safer than the opiods teams give players for pain.

That said, it's interesting to hear that Jones believes his skills were at a higher level when he smoked weed before kickoff. Most wouldn't think of marijuana as a performance-enhancing drug...quite the opposite.

Last year, Travis Kelce told Vanity Fair that he estimates 50-80% of NFL players smoke marijuana regularly.
