A three-judge panel in Peru voted 2-1 to have Dutchman Joran van der Sloot’s confession thrown out, according to various news reports.  Van der Sloot originally confessed to the May 30 murder of Peruvian college student Stephany Flores, whom he met in a casino earlier that evening.  He later retracted his confession.

Van der Sloot (pictured right with three other prisoners) had been in the South American nation following the PokerStars sponsored Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) when the murder took place.  He is also the prime suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Natalee Holloway while she vacationed in Aruba.

Peruvian law requires that there by three unanimous decisions before the confession can be either thrown out or permitted.  A fourth judge is currently reviewing the case and a fifth judge could ultimately be brought in if necessary.

Over the weekend, news reports surfaced that van der Sloot fears for his life in the notorious Castro Castro Prison and expressed concerns that one of his prison mates is trying to poison him.   Ace King reporting for Gambling911.com.
