The wife of US Rep. John Tierney (D-MA) and sister of long time online gambling site operator Bobby Eremian, has been indicted for aiding and abetting her brother’s Antiguan-based Internet sports betting operation.

Patrice Tierney is charged on four counts including tax fraud.  Prosecutors on Wednesday claimed that Ms. Tierney managed the bank account of her brother, which received more than $7 million in online gambling proceeds.

Eremian, who in 2000 was apprehended in Antigua by US authorities for tax evasion, was recently indicted again for racketeering, money laundering and the operation of his Antiguan sports betting operation Sports Off Shore (PlayLegal.com).  Eremian had operated his wagering establishment under a license issued by the Government of Antigua since 1996.  That license was revoked in October of last year.

"I take full responsibility for what my part in this was," Patrice Tierney told Judge William G. Young.

She was later released on personal recognizance and must face a sentencing hearing January 13.

John Tierney is running for re-election after holding office for seven terms.  He faces Republican Bill Hudak, who has already called for Tierney to disclose what he knew about his wife’s financial dealings.  – Christopher Costigan, Gambling911.com Publisher reporting.
