A civil suit filed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky against the Internet gambling industry has added Microgaming as a third defendant. The second amended complaint specifically names Microgaming Software Systems Limited along with PartyGaming and Pocket Kings, the software company for Full Tilt Poker. Like PartyGaming, Microgaming had voluntarily pulled out of the Kentucky market, although after a suit was filed looking to seize over 150 Internet gambling domain names.
The initial suit was won by the industry following appeal, however, Kentucky continues to seek damages.
The Commonwealth claims Microgaming specifically knowingly conducted transactions with persons living in Kentucky illegally during a period from September 29, 2005 to October 23, 2008.
The suit also claims that Microgaming owns some 120 online casino sites and another 40 Internet poker rooms.
Kentucky is seeking treble the amount of money lost by its citizens over this aforementioned period of time.
