The Boston Celtics game odds vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers were set at -4 at Sportsbook.com.  Of course this is not the same Cleveland team of the last few years now that Lebron James is with the Miami Heat.  Boston beat the Heat last night and are now listed with odds of 7/1 to win the 2011 NBA Championship.  These odds are subject to change so Gambling911.com recommends locking them in now.

Expectations for the Cavaliers are low, but new head coach Byron Scott seems to like that perception.

"I love the underdog theory," Scott said. "Being a guy who came in and was put in the same situation, I can relate to it. I know it's a very motivating factor for a lot of players.

"As much as possible, I'm going to keep bringing it up. I don't want them to forget what people are saying and writing about them. If that's the thing to keep them motivated and playing at a high level, I'll say it every single day."

In some ways, expectations were low for the Celtics prior to Tuesday night’s season opening game.  With the Heat signing Lebron James and other marquee talent, Boston was suddenly relegated to “red headed step child” status.

While Lebron James scored 31 points in his team’s loss to the Celtics Tuesday night, Boston held Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to a combined 21 and limited the Heat to 36.5 percent shooting.

….Let’s review some important NBA trends coming into Wednesday October 27, 2010 play.

The Dallas Mavericks are 2-13 Against The Spread in home games in non-conference games over the last 2 seasons.  They play Charlotte as a -6.5 favorite.

The Indiana Pacers are 3-12 ATS as a road underdog of 6.5 to 9 points over the last 2 seasons.  They were an 8.5 point underdog against San Antonio.

6 of 7 games in the Pistons/Nets series have gone OVER THE TOTAL during the past 3 seasons.  The total in this game was set at 188.0.
