2010 NFL Week 8 Spreads

Looking at the 2010 NFL Week 8 spreads, the common theme seems to be that lines on most games have not moved a whole lot in the first three days.

Gambling911.com has observed that of the 13 games being played in Week 8, only 2 have seen line movements of a point or more.

The two most volatile Week 8 spreads have been the Redskins vs. Lions spread and the Dolphins vs. Bengals spreadOf course this is all subject to change as the week progresses.

In the case of the Redskins vs. Lions, that line has moved from Detroit as a pick all the way up to -3 at some spots. The Miami-Cincinnati game was seeing only a one point move across the board from Bengals -1 to -2.

Denver and San Francisco play in London this weekend with the 49ers a 1-point favorite.  This one did open with Denver initially the one-point favorite.

49ers head coach Mike Singletary has said that he will start Troy Smith in this game.

"Troy Smith gives us a good opportunity to win this game," Singletary said. "I talked to David Carr about it. He understands. We had a couple of conversations about it. That's a personal thing between he and I, and I'm going to leave it there. Troy Smith is our starting quarterback."

The Jets were a -6 point home favorite against the Packers.  This one opened at -5.5.

Dismal Dallas was holding steady at -6.5 against Jacksonville at home.

Jon Kitna will replace Tony Romo, who is out for much of the rest of the regular season.  With their current 1-5 record in a division where the other three teams having winning records, there is a chance we may not see Romo until next year.

"I'm not worried about my teammates," Kitna said. "I've been here long enough that they know who I am. They understand what I'm about and how I approach my craft and how I approach preparing for football games. I've been in this system for 13 out of my 15 years, a system similar to this. I'm pretty comfortable with what we do. I'd say 80 percent of the playbook is something that I'm very familiar with and comfortable with.

"I think (playing the final 42 minutes of Monday night's 41-35 loss to the New York Giants) will help going into this game. I'd be lying to say that I could go in and start out where Tony left off in terms of the complexity that they've arrived at in this system. We'll probably be a little more simple. But to the naked eye, I don't think there would be a difference."

St. Louis is a -3 point favorite hosting Carolina in their 2010 Week 8 NFL matchup.  This line has not moved.

The San Diego Chargers held firm at -3.5 at home against Tennessee.

Seattle faces an Oakland Raiders team that scored 59 points against Denver last week and are looking to go to .500 with a 4-4 record.

"I expected this to be a street fight," Raiders coach Tom Cable said. "It started like that and we made sure it didn't go any further."

In their more than 50 years existence, the Broncos have only allowed more points to be scored once.  Oakland is the -2.5 home favorite here.  Some books did open with an even line.

Elsewhere, Arizona hosts Tampa Bay as a -3 point favorite.  That line hasn’t moved.

New England was a -5.5 home favorite against Minnesota, with Brett Favre questionable to start due to injury.

New Orleans was a -1 point favorite hosting Pittsburgh in what should be one of the most wagered on games of Week 8.

The Colts were at -5.5 hosting the Houston Texans in a Monday Night Football showdown.
