Brilliant Speed odds to win the 2011 Kentucky Derby were listed at +2500, which would result in a $2500 for every $100 bet at SBG Global.

Brilliant Speed finished first place in the Blue Grass a few weeks ago. He’ll be racing from the number two post position.

His strengths: He is expected to have a fast pace at the Derby. Brilliant Speed is bred to be a late bloomer. He has the same trainer as classic winner Bernardini. The most important strength to consider is his ability to run distance.

His weaknesses: He has poor dirt form and this is something that needs to be seriously considered. The Daily Race Form notes that, since it has been contested on Keeneland’s Polytrack, the Blue Grass has been an unproductive Kentucky Derby prep for the most part.
