New York Giants vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Odds
The New York Giants vs. Pittsburgh Steelers betting odds were set early at Pittsburgh -2 ½. For those of you still looking for that number as opposed to the -3 found just about everywhere else, BetOnline.com was still offering the Steelers at -2 ½ as of 4:00 pm EST Saturday afternoon. We say jump on that line quickly before they move it if you like Pittsburgh.
This one is a hard game to bet since there isn't a whole lot of past history between these two teams. What's available shows that there is not a whole lot of consistency either.
12/18/04 PIT 33 - NYG 30
12/10/00 PIT 10 - NYG 30
10/23/94 PIT 10 - NYG 6
10/14/91 NYG 23 - PIT 20
12/21/85 PIT 10 - NYG 28
I suppose if we want to really reach we can say that the Giants have gone 3-2 in this series dating back 23 years and that New York has only lost by more than the current spread once (by 4 points in 1994).
To complicate matters more, both teams are 5-1 entering what should be a great game.
The Giants are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Steelers are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU win of more than 14 points.
The Giants will visit the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday in Heinz Field in what promises to be a special and perhaps memorable game. These are two of the NFL's storied franchises, family-owned for the better part of a century, with histories as rich as the game itself. Both teams lead their divisions with 5-1 records. Both teams have terrific defenses, numerous playmakers on both sides of the ball and Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks taken among the first seven selections in the 2004 NFL Draft in Manning and Ben Roethlisberger.
The winner can legitimize the claim of being one of the league's very best teams this season.
"Obviously, we are playing against a great team," Manning said, "a team that has been good for a number of years and has a lot of talent all over the field. So hopefully we can just come out, play sound football and get the game into the fourth quarter and hopefully have a shot to win it then."
"We get to see how we match up against one of the better teams in the NFL," Pierce said. "We're a 5-1 team, they are a 5-1 team, they are physical, they have a great defense, we have a great offense, and vice-versa for our defense and their offense. What it does is match up two good teams. You will see two teams going toe-to-toe in the middle of the ring."
The edge goes to New York only slightly, but this is one game Gambling911.com won't be making any predictions on.
