MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The defendants in the Alabama gambling corruption trial starting Monday in Montgomery:
—Milton E. McGregor of Montgomery; owner of VictoryLand casino in Shorter; charged with one count of conspiracy, six counts of federal program bribery and 11 counts of honest services mail and wire fraud.
—Thomas E. Coker of Lowndesboro; lobbyist for McGregor; charged with one count of conspiracy, two counts of federal program bribery and 11 counts of honest services mail and wire fraud.
—Bob Geddie of Montgomery; lobbyist for McGregor; charged with one count of conspiracy, one count of federal program bribery, 11 counts of honest services mail and wire fraud and one count of obstruction of justice.
—Jarrell W. "Jay" Walker Jr. of Lanett, Ala.; former employee of Country Crossing casino owner Ronnie Gilley; charged with one count of conspiracy, one count of federal program bribery and 11 counts of honest services mail and wire fraud.
—Harri Anne Smith of Slocomb; independent state senator; charged with one count of conspiracy, two counts of federal program bribery, one count of extortion, 11 counts of honest services mail and wire fraud and four counts of money laundering.
—Larry P. Means of Attalla; former Democratic state senator; charged with one count of conspiracy, two counts of federal program bribery, two counts of attempted extortion and 11 counts of honest services mail and wire fraud.
—Jim Preuitt of Talladega; former Republican state senator; charged with one count of conspiracy, one count of federal program bribery, one count of attempted extortion, 11 counts of honest services mail and wire fraud and one count of making a false statement.
—Quinton T. Ross Jr. of Montgomery; Democratic state senator: charged with one count of conspiracy, two counts of federal program bribery, two counts of attempted extortion and 11 counts of honest services mail and wire fraud.
