After opening at -9, the Dolphins-Jets Monday Night Football line has already fallen to -6.5 and could dip further.  New York was seeing close to 75 percent of the betting action on the spread.

Both teams have disappointed thus far in 2011, however, it is the Dolphins who enter this game without a win.  Miami’s offense has failed to produce more than 16 points in its last three games while their defense has allowed an average of 414.5 yards.

Tom Bryant, an analyst for BetOnline.com, had this to offer about the struggling Jets:

“In addition to becoming soft defending the rush, New York’s defense hasn’t been able to generate turnovers the way that they did in Ryan’s first two years with the team, and that has led to less chances for the offense. Quarterback Mark Sanchez stepped up in the media this week and tried to rally his team, but the problem is that he hasn’t stepped his game up to back all that talk. The Jets can afford to run the ball more in an effort to jumpstart the league’s 31st-ranked rushing attack, which could help open things up for Sanchez in the passing game.”

The away team has actually won 6 of the last 7 in this series, an interesting stat being that the Dolphins are 11-4-1 Against The Spread in their last 16 road games.

Miami has managed to cover 4 of the last 5.  The Jets have only beaten Miami by more than the current spread 2 out of their past 10 meetings.

The Jets are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.
