We here at Gambling911.com said it might be due.  Not only was a safety scored in Super Bowl 46, it was the first scoring play of the game.  The safety itself paid $800 on a $100 bet while some online sportsbooks offered upwards of a $5000 payout for a safety being the first score including BetOnline.com

Prior to this Super Bowl, the safety has only occurred in two previous Super Bowls.

A Steve Weatherford punt pinned the New England Patriots back to their 5-yard line, Brady dropped back to pass on the Patriots' first offensive snap and Brady ended up throwing the ball 50 yards to the center of the field to avoid a sack.  Because no receiver was in the area, officials ruled it intentional grounding.  As a result, a safety was the first score of the game.

Gambling911.com was one of the highest ranked websites on search in regard to the safety.  That play managed to take the website down for a few minutes.  It should be noted that in terms of overall traffic to the G911 website, this Super Bowl is looking like the biggest ever.
