It’s never too early to start thinking about New York Knicks newest super star Jeremy Lin to be named Season MVP for 2012.  In fact this is the best time ever.  As of the time of publication February 12, 2012, Lin had odds of 75 to 1 at Sportsbook.com.

In an opt-in piece for Gambling911.com this weekend, public relations magnate Ronn Torossian of 5WPR.com called Jeremy Lin a “Marketing Wet Dream”.

Lin is a marketer’s wet dream come true – only 6’3, he’s approachable and in a sport where one’s face isn’t covered by equipment - people can recognize and relate to him (he’s not an overgrown ogre).  A hard-working underdog who was an undrafted free agent and cut by 2 teams, as the 1st American-born NBA player of Taiwanese or Chinese descent & 4th Asian-American ever in NBA he has the potential to further open the biggest country in the world to the NBA. Asian TV partners of the NBA have already added Knicks games to their broadcast schedules, and have I mentioned Mr. Lin plays in New York, the media capital of the world – where he is guaranteed increased exposure and awareness? He’s a Harvard graduate – the very definition of brains and brawn.  "Lin-sanity".

As of this writing, Lin has guided the Knicks to 5 straight victories and he scored in double digits in each of those.

Lin, one of the few Chinese-Americans to ever play in the NBA, has become such an overnight sensation that Knicks games will now be broadcast in China, Taiwan and the Philippines.

And the irony….Most New Yorkers aren’t able to watch Lin play.

That’s because close to 1.5 million people in the greater New York area have Time Warner Cable and Madison Square Garden has been unavailable to subscribers of Time Warner Cable since January 1 due to a bitter contract dispute.
