During Monday’s workout at Churchill Downs, trainer Mike Harrington referred to Creative Cause’s performance on the fast track as “perfect in my book”.

"I figured he would go in :47 and change, so that's good," Harrington said. "It was just a maintenance work, but we wanted him to go fast enough to show that he's on his game, which he definitely did. He did that fairly easily; he could have gone a lot faster."

In March, Creative Cause enjoyed a 1st place finish at the San Felipe while finishing 2nd to I’ll Have Another at the Santa Anita Derby in early April.

The Santa Anita second place finish was a bit of a bummer considering Creative Cause was the favorite to win that race. Still, Harrington was pleased with his performance.

“I thought he ran great today,” Harrington said after the race.
