Alpha was coming in at 14-1 odds to win the 2012 Kentucky Derby overnight and into the morning hours of race day.
Considering his slow starts and the fact that he has had gate issues, 14-1 odds is hardly a fair price. Not to mention his post position at 11 has a poor history for winning.
Yes he’s talented and he was one of the more discussed horses early on. His star seems to be fading however.
The other thing to consider is that Alpha returned from the Wood Memorial a bit scratched up and developed an infection.
Gambling911.com says stay away from Alpha at all costs, especially at this price. Maybe if he were at 40-1.
