Kentucky Derby 2012 Morning Lines (Saturday May 5)
We have your updated Kentucky Derby morning lines as of 9 am EST. Carrie Stroup here and Gambling911.com’s traffic is through the roof this morning as everybody and their mother seems to be betting on the 2012 Kentucky Derby. These lines are courtesy of Sportsbook, which was offering up to $250 in FREE CASH to qualified new signups and up to 8 percent back on losses.
Please note that at the time of publication many of the online racebooks were updating their lines based on weather/track conditions as well as some concerns over Gemologist jockey Javier Castellano suffering a fall yesterday. His injuries appeared superficial this AM and he is confirmed to take on the undefeated Gemologist.
Bodemeister was continuing to come in at 4/1 while Union Rags line change slightly from 4/1 to 9/2.
Amazingly, Gemologist’ odds have not moved at Sportsbook. They were still sitting at 6/1 and it is widely believed they will be slashed further by this afternoon so be sure to lock this price in now here.
Frankly we haven’t seen a whole lot of heavy line movements. This could change dramatically come the afternoon.
The heavy rains that hit over night have been moving out of the Churchill Downs area. Dramatic warming will increase the chances of thunderstorms for later this afternoon, though they are more likely to be isolated in nature.
Alert: The Churchill Downs main track was closed for training on Saturday morning because of heavy rain overnight. This prohibited an eager Hansen from training this AM.
With the weather expected to be sunny for the next several hours leading into the afternoon, the Churchill Downs main track, which is known for drying quickly, should be dry by race time, provided there are no additional rain storms.
