Hundreds of Punters Were Still Betting Manchester City at 1 to 33 Odds

Even with bookmakers offering odds of 1-33 on Manchester City sealing the deal and winning the English Premier League championship, hundreds of punters were reportedly still placing bets up until the very end on what they deemed to be a “sure thing”. 

It almost didn’t happen as Queen Park Rangers (QPR) were up 2-1 as Sunday’s game entered injury time.

And with seemingly no way back, teary City fans decided to head to the exits early so as not to be there to witness the final whistle blowing up on their title dream.

The rest, of course, is history as Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero both found the net in the dying moments to give City the most dramatic of victories.

"We've never known five minutes like it," said Ladbrokes spokesman David Williams. "United fans got greedy. The smell of burnt fingers around Old Trafford is overwhelming."

As Alex Ferguson would say, "Football, eh?... Bloody hell."
