There are two co-favorites at this year’s Ladies Classic with Awesome Feather and Royal Delta both listed at 9/5 odds.
Royal Delta does have a cut that is said to be “superficial”, according to trainer Bill Mott.
"She's good," Mott said of the filly's status at Santa Anita Park the morning of Oct. 30. "The site that was sutured looked really good. If it stays the way it is right now, it will be a non-issue as far as her performance. There are a lot of things that can happen to horses that we can't see that are a lot worse than that. This is just a layer of skin that got sewn back. That's it."
Awesome Feather, while considered “injury prone”, enters this race undefeated with 10 victories under her belt. Her last four starts were won by a combined 241/4.
"She's a remarkable horse, she's really good right now," commented trainer Chad Brown. "In a perfect world we certainly would like to have run her more than we have, but she's been a work in progress since the day I've had her so I really don't know her any other way."
