Paula Deen Controversy Hits Casinos: Buffet Boycott (Video)

The controversy surrounding celebrity chef Paula Deen and her admission of using a racial slur to describe African Americans several years ago has began to have wide reaching ramifications.

Reports of Deen wanting Black staff members to dress up as slaves for her brother Bubba’s “Old Fashion Southern Wedding” haven't helped matters either.

Now enter the casino sector, which has now begun to feel some of the backlash from Deen’s admissions.

The Horseshoe Casino in Southern Indiana offers a Paula Deen buffet.  Several individuals planned to boycott the establishment as a result.

For now, the Horseshoe has opted to continue offering the buffet.  They offered the following statement in response to the brewing controversy:

Paula Deen has acknowledged using a racial slur in the past. As a company with a longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion, Horseshoe Southern Indiana is deeply disturbed by what we are reading in the press and strongly object to any use of racial epithets. We will continue to monitor the situation"

Tunica’s Harrah’s Casino has also stated it will keep the Paula Deen buffet going.

A spokesman for Caesar's Entertainment, which owns Harrah's Casino, sent this statement:

Deen addressed her comments Friday in two separate video statements.

"I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong that I've done," she said in the video.

The Food Network announced they will be dropping Deen once her contract expires.
