California Chrome Odds to Win 2014 Belmont Stakes Still Has Great Value at -130
Despite all the hoopla surrounding California Chrome and his chances of being the first horse to win the Triple Crown in over 35 years, there is still great value betting on the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner.
California Chrome would require a mere $13 to win $10 or $130 to Win $100. Between 20% to 50% of those bettng this year’s Belmont Stakes were backing Chrome. He has been offered at a similar price in both the Derby and Preakness.
The horse with the second shortest odds will pay just shy of 7/1 odds. That would be Commanding Curve, a solid performer at this year’s Kentucky Derby. He skipped the Preakness Stakes in order to focus on the Belmont.
So far, California Chrome has looked impressive in workouts leading up to the Belmont Stakes.
“He’s ready, he galloped out great, exactly what we wanted today,” the assistant trainer Alan Sherman said following Saturday’s workout. “I’m confident in this horse and always have been.”
Like with the two previous races of the Triple Crown, the biggest concern facing California Chrome will be his ability to avoid getting locked in early. Otherwise, sky is the limit.
