It’s looking like another sunny day for the third leg of the 2014 Triple Crown and the Belmont Stakes.  No need trying to figure out which of this year’s contenders can be classified as mudders.

Saturday’s race day forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 80’s.

As for even the slightest chance of rain, the weather forecast is calling for zero percent.

California Chrome is preparing to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed won it in 1978.

The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner will face 10 rivals racing from the number 2 spot.  Eleven Belmont winners have come out of that spot in the starting gate, the last being Tabasco Cat in 1994.

"I like number two," said jockey Victor Espinoza.  He has ridden California Chrome to victory in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. "Hopefully, it's my lucky number."
