Portuguese Water Dog

The White House First Dog is expected by April - a  Portuguese Waterdog (a what?).   The only thing we don't know is his/her name.

We do know that the First Dog won't be named "Frank", presumably after Congressman Barney Frank, who Gambling911.com readers would know is a huge ally of the online gambling sector.

People Magazine's interview with Michelle Obama suggests that the First Family is looking for a rescued Portuguese water dog that is "old enough" and a "match" for the family dynamic, may not be quite accurate, her press secretary Katie McCormick Lelyveld said today.  The Chicago Tribune denied these reports saying that, quoting Ms. McCormick Lelyveld:

"They have not selected a breed," Lelyveld said. "Mrs. Obama likes the Portuguese water dog, but she is only one of four votes."

"Their primary focus now is that they get a dog that works with their lifestyle," Lelyveld said.

The Obama's are also said to be considering a Labrodoodle.

Obama daughter, Malia, is allergic, so the breed has to be hypoallergenic.  To us, this Portuguese Waterdog looks like a walking allergy carrier with all that mangled fur.

The name is still a source of tension for the first family.

"Oh, the names are really bad. I don't even want to mention it, because there are names floating around and they're bad," Mrs. Obama said. "I think, Frank was one of them. Frank! Moose was another one of them. Moose. I said, well, what if the dog isn't a moose?"

Barney Frank can't be too happy...unless they decide to name the dog "Barney".

Why do we get the feeling they had Sarah Palin on their minds when the name "Moose" was brought up?

Odds originally favored "George" as the 8-1 favorite.
