A daily fantasy sports site has offered NFL player Ray Rice a $1 million sponsorship deal to represent their company. Rice was suspended by the NFL after he was observed punching his then fiancé in an Atlantic City casino elevator. His former team, the Baltimore Ravens, cut the star soon afterwards.
ProDraftLeague.com CEO and one time professional poker player Mark Tadros tells TMZ, "Mr. Rice has shown deep remorse for his act of domestic violence and I feel he deserves a second chance."
Rice's job obligations would include:
2 TV commercials -- 2 viral videos -- 1 photo shoot -- 30 media interviews -- weekly column with personal analysis on which NFL players to play -- field reporter work and interviewing various NFL players for the site.
In recent months, two of the industry’s biggest companies, DraftKings.com and FanDuel, have entered into numerous sponsorship deals with professional sports franchises. Other daily fantasy sports sites have orchestrated deals with individual athletes the likes of Tom Brady, Drew Brees and T.Y. Hilton among others.
An estimated 42 million people in the US and Canada currently engage in fantasy sports betting, which includes both the standard season long format and daily contests, according to Marc Lesnick, organizer of the upcoming Daily Fantasy Sports Expo in Miami Beach.
Rice has yet to respond to the offer though he is widely expected to continue playing in the National Football League.
