This a horse we know can run on the dirt at Churchill Downs based on past races. This track will be dry and fast. He won four of five races in Dubai including an eight-length score in the UAE Derby. He has won a pair of victories at the about 1 3/16-mile distance.

The primary con mentioned across the board in regard to Mubtaahij is the notion that horses based outside the United States have yet to win the Kentucky Derby.

"He's quite a character and doesn't get fazed by much," said Mike de Kock. Mubtaahij's trainer. "He's fit, and fitness is important in all athletics. You never see the fat kid win the egg-and-spoon race."
