What Are the Odds That American Pharoah Wins the Belmont Stakes?
So what were the odds of Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner American Pharoah winning the Belmont Stakes and ultimately the first Triple Crown in nearly 40 years?
As of midweek, American Pharoah’s odds were set at -140, solid value considering the field.
“I think he looked really well for what he’s been through, all the shipping and all,” Trainer Bob Baffert said upon American Pharoah’s arrival. “I don’t think he’s lost any weight. He looks like a horse that’s run in two big races. I think his energy level, I could tell when he got off and I walked him around there, he still feels pretty strong. Hopefully, he’ll just keep that these next few days.”
The Belmont Stakes favorite looks to become the first horse to win the Triple Crown since Affirmed did it in 1978.
