LeBron James and Cavaliers New Favorites to Win 2009 NBA Championship
Oddsmakers like LeBron James' chances of capturing his first NBA Title as his Cleveland Cavaliers are now the favorite to win it all this season.
The Cavs, with just four losses in their last 27 games, moved to +175 odds and are now listed in front of the previously favored L.A. Lakers.
"Cleveland looks great right now and a lot of bettors are feeling like this is LeBron's time to win a championship," said Sportsbook.com spokesman Dave Staley. "This team is unbeatable at home and if they get home court in the playoffs, they'll be tough to take down."
Cleveland has lost just once at home all season, going 37-1 at the Quicken Loans Arena but that sole home loss did come at the hands of the Lakers, a 101-91 defeat in early February.
Since then, Cleveland has rebounded to win its last 13 home games, including a dominating 101-81 win over San Antonio last Sunday.
The Cavaliers have been getting their wins with good defense as they rank first in the NBA with just 91.1 points allowed per game and the 43% field goal shooting by opponents is second-best.
With 99.9 points per game offensively, Cleveland is middle of the road in terms of scoring but they now have a variety of guys to rely on instead of just King James. While James is second in the NBA with an average of 28.4 points per game, teammate Mo Williams adds another 17.9 while big man Zydrunas Ilgauskas adds 13.1.
The title favorite for most of the season, the Lakers are now second on oddsmaker's lists at +180 odds while the defending champion Boston Celtics are third at +450 odds.
