Dunkirk Kentucky Derby Odds Now Pay $500
While most online gambling sites had Dunkirk listed Thursday with +400 odds, the folks at Sports Interaction had moved the odds to +500 for a payout potential of $500 on every $100 bet.
Gambling911.com was monitoring Kentucky Derby odds changes around the clock as we inched closer to race time.
Dunkirk breezed five furlongs in 1:01.05 at the Palm Meadows Training Center in Florida in company with stablemate Munnings.
"I was very, very pleased with the work," trainer Todd Pletcher said. "He started out about a length and a half or two lengths behind the other horse, then he finished up about a half-length ahead. It was a very good move for him."
Trained by Todd Pletcher, the roan/gray son of Unbridled's Song seemed to be guaranteed a berth in the Kentucky Derby field, which is limited to 20 based on graded-stakes earnings.
This was one of the closest Kentucky Derbys in terms of odds whereby there were four horses listed in the single digits at Sports Interaction and a few double digit long shots that had "upset" written all over them (Papa Clem, Chocolate Candy, Regal Ransom, to name a few). Regal Ransom, in fact, was one of the most searched for contenders heading into Saturday's Derby.
The weather will have an impact with a 70 percent chance of rain. Only Friesan Fire and Desert Party have won on an off track. Desert Party would pay out $1600 for every $100 bet. Friesan Fire would pay $600 for every $100 bet.
