This is breaking news from Gambling911.com.  I Want Revenge, the favorite to win the 2009 Kentucky Derby, has been scratched from the race.  A number of online gambling websites have taken down their odds temporarily as a result of this development while others continued to offer odds on I Want Revenge.   A filling was discovered in an ankle Saturday morning according to Bloodhorse.com.

It is the first time in Derby history (that anyone could research) that the morning-line favorite was scratched the day of the race.

The soft tissue injury was discovered by a doctor after watching I Want Revenge jogging on the blacktop.  The inflammation was noticeable.

"He X-rayed normal and the ultrasound was normal," Dr. Northrup said. "There is no diagnosis at this time. More sophisticated tests will need to be done."

BetUS.com continued to list 2009 Kentucky Derby odds Saturday morning following the news but cancelled out I Want Revenge's odds.

This news will result in Dunkirk, Pioneer of the Nile and Friesan Fire becoming three-way favorites depending on the Internet gambling site offering odds.  BetUS.com had Friesan Fire as the favorite to win paying $300 for every $100 bet. Sports Interaction meanwhile listed Dunkirk as the +500 (5/1) favorite.
