Will Blackjack Tables Still be Permitted in Florida: Seminoles Fight State

It’s battleground Florida as the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the state go to trial on Monday to determine whether the tribe can continue offering blackjack tables at their casinos including the coveted Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood.

The tribe filed its lawsuit last year following the expiration of key parts of its pact with the state.

Florida then countersued to insist on the removal of said blackjack tables.

While Governor Rick Scott reached a new deal with the tribe last December to permit blackjack and add games such as craps and roulette, the state legislature rejected the deal.

That deal would have resulted in the Seminoles paying Florida $3 billionover seven years, plus a slight increase in revenue sharing over the previous 2010 agreement between the state and the Seminoles.
