When betting on the 2009 Preakness Stakes, Rachel Alexandra is one horse you will want to pay special attention to in terms of shopping for odds.  Gambling911.com has found that the odds on this filly range anywhere from -150 to nearly +200 (see Sportsinteraction.com paying $175 for every $100 bet).

"Obviously you will want to get the best payout odds," says Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.  "In this case Sportsinteraction.com pays out around $250 more than some of its competitors per every $100 bet."

Ridden by regular jockey Calvin Borel, at age three Rachel Alexandra made her debut on February 15, 2009 with an 8-length win in the Martha Washington Stakes at Oaklawn Park. She then won the March 14 Fair Grounds Oaks in New Orleans on a sloppy track. On April 8 she returned to Oaklawn Park to easily win the Fantasy Stakes by 8¾ lengths. In her most recent start, the filly scored the most impressive win of her career, running away from the field to win the Grade I Kentucky Oaks by over 20 lengths.

Shortly after her Oaks victory, on May 6, 2009, it was announced that Rachel Alexandra was sold to Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stables and Harold T. McCormick. ESPN reported that she will be transferred to trainer Steve Asmussen.

Prior to the sale, Rachel Alexandra was not expected to race in the 2009 Preakness Stakes.  That soon changed and she was made the easy favorite.

Best odds on Rachel Alexandra to win the 2009 Preakness Stakes were +175 at Sportsinteraction.com for a payout potential of $175 on every $100 bet.
