Cincinnati Bearcats: Bookie Beat Down or Bettor Beware?

Our new series deals with what may look like a super hot team at the moment, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the case when it comes to bookie vs. bettor.  Here we look at the current state of the Cincinnati Bearcats, a team that, as of February 9, has won 15 straight (25 straight at home), is 11-0 in its respective conference and has lost just two games this season.

Current Status: A Wash

Contrary to how things may appear, the Bearcats have only covered in half of their last ten games despite outright wins in all of those.

Failed covers versus Tulsa and SMU could have been bet on the money line at a decent price.

The Bearcats will face SMU again, this time at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas.  Considering the close win against the Mustangs last month – not to mention they also have an impressive 20-4 record, one can expect SMU to potentially have a victory here and likely favorite status.  Cincinnati faces four more teams they last had victories over.  Cincinnati has only covered the spread once in the most recent meetings against the next five teams they face.

The Bearcats beat UCF in their last appearance by 10 points while failing to cover the -12.5 spread.  That’s not to take anything away from their effort.

"I was really, really happy with our effort tonight," UC coach Mick Cronin said. "I thought we played extremely hard on defense. We had 47 deflections, 12 steals, and we held a team to 50 points. You can't ask for much more than that from a defensive effort."

While Cincinnati area bookies may not yet be in dire straits, contract Pay Per Head businesses do provide a means for reducing losses and often boosting profits through the offering of LIVE IN-PLAY WAGERING and online casino games that enjoy a favorable house edge.

Cincinnati Basketball attendance rankings had the team at number 53 in the nation.
