Odds to Win the 2017 Men’s French Open
Rafael Nadal was coming in at -140 as the odds-on favorite to win the Men’s 2017 French Open. Novak Djokovic required less of a risk for a more generous payout of US$330 on every US$100 bet or US$33 for every US$10 bet. French Open May 21 - Jun 10
Djokovic also has value in light of Nadal hitting a snag ahead of this week’s French Open start. He lost in three straight sets in the finals in both Barcelona and Madrid after dominating with his first grand slam win since 2014.
That loss was to Spaniard Dominic Thiem.
"He played very aggressive, hitting the ball very strong," Nadal said. "The court here is probably the smaller on all the center courts on clay, so that makes the players who play with bigger serve and hitting the ball strong, you know, is a little bit more easier for them to see the option to hit winners.
"So he did it. He played very long. He didn't miss a lot. Played high intensity.
"In general I was not able to push him back. He had the control of the points much more times than me. That's the key of this game."
Andre Agassi will coach Novak Djokovic at this year’s French Open, thus providing an additional edge that makes those 3-1 odds especially enticing.
"I spoke to Andre the last couple weeks on the phone, and we decided to get together in Paris," Djokovic said. "So he's going to be there. We'll see what [the] future brings.
"We are both excited to work together and see where it takes us. We don't have any long-term commitment. It's just us trying to get to know each other in Paris a little bit," Djokovic added. "He will not stay the whole tournament. He's going to stay only to a certain time, and then we'll see after that what's going to happen."
Tennis betting has become especially popular in recent years. While there is less of a likelihood of a massive payout as we often find with golf tournaments, those players with the shortest odds tend to have a better chance of winning, thus providing sports bettors with a greater likelihood of cashing out.
