Poker Pro Arrested for Theft by Deception

A poker pro was charged for "theft by deception" after telling a tale of woe to a fellow traveler while at Newark Airport, convincing the victim to loan him $200.  SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE

Michael Borovetz, who has won $587,615 in live tournament winnings since 2004 including a 2006 victory at a WSOP Circuit Atlantic City event, allegedly had no intention of honoring his debt, and it has since been learned Borovetz was pulling similar scams since the early 2000’s.

In 2014, Borovetz admitted in a public posting forum that he had committed past improprieties and intended to turn his life around.

His latest victim reported the incident to Port Authority with Borovetz later arrested at the Newark Airport Marriott last Tuesday (April 3).

Borovetz is now set to appear at the Essex County Municipal Court on April 17th.
