PA Gambling Revenues Up Double Digits With Sports Betting
Despite the high taxation imposed on gambling operators (keeping some out of the market), PA saw gambling revenues up double digits thanks in no small part to legalized sports wagering.
Figures released Tuesday by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) show statewide gaming revenue totaling $292m in November. This represented an increase of 13.2% from the same month last year.
The betting handle was up 31.2% to $316.5 million.
Mobile wagering accounted for over 84% of the sports betting market, a slight increase from October.
FanDuel has partnered with Valley Forge Casino and managed to capture 56% of the online sports betting market ($149.7 million). Rivers Casino in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh partner Rush Street Gaming realized $32.4 million, well behind FanDuel.
Draftkings and Unibet entered the market in November. They will report their first full month of revenues for December in the coming weeks.
Fox Bet and Mount Airy delivered disappointing numbers in November: $14.4m.
With the two new operators, November saw an increase nearly twice that of October online. Total revenues amounted to $9.65m.
The state’s lone online poker site, The Stars Group’s PokerStars, brought in just under $2m in its first full month of operations.
