Barney Frank Present During Pot Bust
A leading opponent for the online poker industry, Congressman Barney Frank, was present when his partner's home was raided during a pot bust in 2007. The story came out in the Boston Globe last week.
Congressman Frank was on the front porch at the time and he never saw the plants and would not have recognized them. He reiterated to FOX25 in Boston that he was surprised and disappointed with what police found.
According to police reports, Frank's partner, James Ready, was charged with marijuana possession, cultivation and use of drug paraphernalia. Ready admitted to civil possession and paid a fine with the other charges dropped.
Sources tell FOX25 that when Frank was questioned he told police that he did not live in the house and that he only smoked cigars.
Last week, Maine became the fifth state in the nation to approve retail medical marijuana dispensaries. Congressman Frank supports legalizing marijuana for medical use.
