BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The Idaho Supreme Court has rejected a lawsuit brought by a gambling-addicted Bingham County couple who wanted to ban gambling on Indian reservations in Idaho.

The Idaho State Journal reports that Wendy Knox and Richard Dotson filed the lawsuit in March 2008, contending they had become addicted to gambling after playing the video gaming machines at the Fort Hall Casino in southern Idaho. They said their gambling addictions caused them to lose thousands of dollars, and as redress they wanted the state and tribal gaming compact statutes declared unconstitutional.

Seventh District Judge Darren B. Simpson dismissed the lawsuit for several reasons, saying the couple didn't have standing to bring the lawsuit and couldn't show that banning gambling would help them. Last week the Idaho Supreme Court upheld his ruling.
