Should You Bet the A's This Weekend?
The Oakland Athletics may have been a dangerous team to bet on at 5-7 coming into their series against the Detroit Tigers, but there was an interesting trend you need to be aware of that has already proven profitable.
Oakland has dominated this series, and that continued to be the case as we headed into Sunday game against the Tigers. Oakland is 21-2 versus Detroit in the last 23.
The OVER has only happened 5 times in 18.
What's great is that there is still some value with the A's since the Tigers own a similar record. For example, Friday's game can be gotten for under -160.
This series has helped the A's achieve a more respectable record of 8-7.
Thus far, the Athletics have outscored the Tigers 18-4, out-hit them 24-18 and out-pitched them.
Detroit left-hander Matthew Boyd hopes to build upon his first road win of the season while Oakland righty Chris Bassitt seeks his first home success of the year Sunday.
Oakland comes into this game as a -137 home favorite with the total set at 8.5, which hadn't moved much.
Bassitt is coming off his best game of the season in a 9-5 win at Arizona on Monday, limiting the Diamondbacks to two runs and two hits. Both of his losses came at home, having allowed seven runs and 13 hits in 11 1/3 innings against Houston and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Bassitt, 32, has gone 4-2 with a 3.35 ERA in six career starts against the Tigers. He has struggled a bit with Miguel Cabrera, who has gone 6-for-15 (.400) with a double, but the veteran is missing this series with a strained left bicep.
Really hard not to take Oakland here at -140 Sunday.
