Former Florida All-American and Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Tim Tebow will be appearing in a Super Bowl ad that is already raising eyebrows.  It is one that is mother, Pam, will take part in.

The commercial has a strong anti-abortion message.  It is a message that hits close to home with the Tebow family. In 1987, while pregnant with Tim, doctors recommended that Pam abort her fifth child.

The ad is sponsored by the conservative Christian group, Focus on Family.  Not too surprisingly, women's groups across the US are asking for the ad to be banned.

A letter sent from the Women's Media Center to CBS condemned the ad, in part because of the support of Focus on Family, an organization that has come under fire in recent years. The letter said:

"By offering one of the most coveted advertising spots of the year to an anti-equality, anti-choice, homophobic organization, CBS is aligning itself with a political stance that will damage its reputation, alienate viewers, and discourage consumers from supporting its shows and advertisers."

Gary Schneeberger, a spokesman for Focus on Family said on Monday, "There's nothing political and controversial about it. When the day arrives, and you sit down to watch the game on TV, those who oppose it will be quite surprised at what the ad is all about."

CBS has no plans to remove the ad at this time.
