FanDuel CEO Says No Intention of Partnering With Universities

FanDuel CEO Amy Howe made it clear her company will draw the line when it comes to partnering with colleges.

Fresh off her controversial comment claiming that 25% of those who bet offshore get burnt, Howe made it clear there is a major difference between taking bets on college sports and entering into sports betting parnerships with the schools and universities.

"I don’t want the FanDuel name showing up on a jersey or plastered all over a college stadium,” Howe said. “So, we’re going to tread much more carefully because you’re targeting an audience that is, by definition, a lot of those consumers are underage.”

Ironically, nearly all offshore sportsbooks do accept bets from those 18 and up compared to FanDuel, which allows those 21 and up to bet.  There are a handful of state exceptions, New Hampshire being one.

Howe came under fire for her 25% remark.  Following the Q&A with CNBC, a company that just happens to be owned by FanDuel's parent company, Howe simply claimed she got that number from the American Gaming Association.  Fact checkers have been unable to confirm any such comment.
