Lawmakers Meet to Discuss Mobile Sports Betting in Mississippi
JACKSON, MI (Gambling911.com) - This might be the last meeting of lawmakers to discuss the possibility of permitting mobile sports betting in the state of Mississippi.
This was one of the first U.S. states to legalize the activity following the abolishing of decades of prohibition by the Supreme Court in the spring of 2018. But Mississippi only permits sports gambling in designated casinos - both in Tupelo and Biloxi. Mobile betting is permitted only on the casino property.
State Representative Casey Eure last month announced he would be introducing a mobile sports betting bill, however, the legislative session is running out of time.
“I will have a bill that I will introduce. I can’t sit here and tell you that this will pass the House, that I will be able to send it to the Senate. I wanted everyone to understand where I stood from day one,” Eure said
The Mississippi Mobile-Online Sports Betting Task Force was established to debate and review the prospect of legalization.
Like with a number of states with an abundance of casinos, operators worry about losing foot traffic to mobile gambling.

We played really well in the second half running the football and then finished well running the football. We weren’t perfect by any means. Excited to get the trophy back.”
