Stately Victor was undistinguished through his first seven starts before he posted a stunning 4 ¼-length victory in the Grade 1 Blue Grass at odds of 40-1. He would eventually finish 8th at this year's Kentucky Derby in the mud.
Trainer Mike Maker believes Stately Victor is well-suited for the Belmont's 1 ½-mile distance and the track's long, sweeping turns.
In nine career starts, however, Stately Victor has run only one outstanding race.

Even if Stately Victor reproduced his 94 Beyer Speed Figure on synthetic, it probably would not be good enough to win the Belmont.
