Cake Poker Break: Matt Keikoan Second WSOP Bracelet

Matt Keikoan has won his second World Series of Poker bracelet.  He accomplished this amazing feat with the $10,000 Limit Hold'em World Championship.

From Cake Poker: "Matt Keikoan got back to his grinding roots and survived a grueling heads-up match to claim his second career WSOP victory."

Keikoan's chief rival was a former junior hockey player from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Dan Idema. The 2007 British Columbia Poker Championship, held a lead of nearly three-to-one over Keikoan when heads-up play began.

From Cake Poker:  "He stretched that margin as wide as four-to-one at some points early on, but Keikoan, who won his first bracelet in 2008, fought back and made a match of it. Idema would pin Keikoan to the wall and appear to have him put away several more times over the course of the nearly five-hour final battle, but Keikoan gritted his teeth and hung in there like a true professional.

"Keikoan finally grabbed the advantage when the limits were so high that only 17 big bets remained in play, flopping bottom two pair against Idema's top pair, top kicker. With just one big bet remaining in his stack, Idema was forced to go with 4-2 offsuit - and Keikoan's A-7 carried him to his second bracelet. His $425,969 score pushed him over $3.2 million in career tournament earnings."

Of his victory, Keikoan had this to offer:  "This one almost feels better than the first one.  What I went through here tonight, all the ups and downs and back and forth. It wasn't easy. It was sure nice to get the first one. It was nice to get the second one, too."
