Three individuals are listed with short odds to win the Men's 400m Freestyle in Swimming at the Paris Summer Olympics.

Lukas Märtens (GER)
+135
Samuel Short (AUS)
+175
Elijah Winnington (AUS)
+280

Märtens will be competing in his second Olympics, having participated in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo where he placed 7th as a member of the German men’s 4×200 free relay, 11th in the 1500 free, 12th in the 400 free, and 18th in the 200 free (after losing a swim-off for first alternate) individually.

In April at the 2022 Stockholm Open, Märtens placed first in the 200, 400, and 800 free and shot up to the top of the world rankings for the year.

He would pay out $13.50 for every $10 bet or $135 for every $100 bet should he go on to win the gold medal.  But the competition is tight.

He would pay out $175 for every $100 bet with a gold medal win.

Winnington pays $280 for every $100 bet.

He has competed in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, FINA World Junior Swimming Championships, 2020 Summer Olympics, and 2022 World Aquatics Championships. Winnington is the current 400m freestyle world champion.

Winnington won the battle of the 400m freestyle world champions in one of the races of the night on day one of the four-day Australian Championship meet on the Gold Coast back in April.
