  • Alex Yee of Great Britain comes into the Men's Triathlon event a slight favorite.
  • New Zealand's Hayden Wilde has the second shortest odds and was under some scrutiny ahead of the Paris Oympics.

Odds to win gold at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics in the Triathlon Men's Individual have Alex Yee (GBR) paying $140 on a $100 bet and Hayden Wilde (NZL) pays $300 on a $100 bet.

Yee won the silver medal in the Men's Triathlon at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the gold medal in the Triathlon Mixed Relay at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Saturday 31 July 2021. He is also the 2022 Commonwealth Games triathlon champion in both the men's and mixed team events as well as a double World Championship medalist over the World Triathlon Championship Series, with silver in 2022, and bronze in 2021.

In 2022, Yee won his first individual World Championship, the 2022 World Triathlon Sprint Championships in Montreal in Canada.

So far this year, Yee remains unbeaten.

“We’ve been doing a lot of preparation in the river here which has a very similar current to the Seine and I feel I can really use that to my advantage now.

“Everything is very similar to last year. I’ve done pretty much a carbon copy of the run in to the Test event and I’m really looking forward to the weeks to come.”

Wilde comes into Paris the better value bet in terms of payouts.

He was the bronze medallist at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, the silver medalist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the winner of the 2021 XTERRA World Championships.

Wilde finished second in the 2021 Super League Triathlon Championship Series and won the 2022 Super League Triathlon Championship Series, having been victorious in 3 of the 5 series races.

Wilde comes into this year's Summer Olympics under some scrutiny.

He was given a 10-second penalty for unclipping his helmet too early at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

"I actually still find it extremely funny - World Triathlon have made a new rule that you're not actually allowed to touch your helmet any more, coming into transition,” Wilde told The Post on Monday after being named in the New Zealand triathlon team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“Everyone calls it the Hayden Wilde Rule - that got made up as a rule two years ago after the Comm Games. It's quite funny to this day actually - as cunning as it is, the British still ask race officials if they can record me in transition to make sure I don't do anything.

“In Cagliari, they asked officials if they could record me in transition, because they said if I touched my helmet once coming in, they'd penalise me, so that's just the lengths that Great Britain are going to and they see me as a threat.

“I guess, looking at that, you can be quite delighted that they see that as a threat.

“I don't let it get to my head, but obviously I use it as firepower, and always have a giggle to Alex about it.”
