Dzmitry Urbanovich Wins EPT Malta €25K High Roller for €572,300
Dzmitry Urbanovich has never cashed in for a 6-figure result before arriving at the EPT Malta Poker Festival.
Urbanovich sealed his career's biggest victory today after beating a 88-entry field in the €25k High Roller. The Pole entered the final table second in chips toe-to-toe with Connor Drinan. They used the advatage of a big stack to get to heads-up with Drinan holding the lead, although Urbanovich eventually managed to beat the American to grab the title along with a €572,300 first prize.
The Pole won another High Roller just three weeks ago at Eureka Rozvadov, but it is this victory in Malta what more than tripled his lifetime live tournament winnings.
The runner-up Connor Drinan added another €397,800 to his account. Drinan has already cashed for more than $800k this month as he scooped $372k in L.A. prior to his departure to Europe for the EPT Malta. Drinan's live tournament winnings now exceed $2.8 million.
Daniel Dvoress from Canada took the third prize while Nicholas Petrangelo secured a €205,900 payday for a 4th place finish. Petrangelo was ranked #5 in the GPI Player of the Year leaderboard before the event and claiming another impressive result in the €25k High Roller will help him to move even higher in the rankings.
Overall, there were 88 entries (68 unique players + 20 re-entries), creating a €2,156,000 prize pool. Martin Finger, Philipp Gruissem, Dani Stern, Jeff Rossiter and Sam Greenwood were amongst those who cashed while Sorel Mizzi busted on the bubble.
